Omnia-CS is delighted to announce that they are supporting the marine industry in their introduction of solar panel technology. One such company, Top Cat Cruising School, recently contacted Omnia for a solution as to how to fix solar panels to their Bimini boats. With Omnia’s lightweight sandwich panel systems, Top Cat was able to successfully fix their solar panels to their boats with ease.
Being able to fix solar panels to the boat means that Top Cat’s vessels have power. Jim Duerden from Top Cat Cruising School said; “Of course you cannot see the Omnia substrate in the photo. It is however doing a great job! Not only is it easy to use and fit, but it is also super light and strong in compression which is critical in this application. To me, it is an ideal solution.”
The photo shot was taken from the masthead whilst doing a routine rig check. Mago Merlino, Top Cat’s training boat is on her way around the UK and Jim and the team had moored in Hayle in Cornwall.
Fitting the solar panels is one of Jim Duerden’s attempts at a cleaner way of getting around and more news will follow.
