St Johns Ambulance and Alfa Drop Box
We are delighted, and proud, to be working with Alfa Drop Box in the creation of 2 new incident support pods. This new and innovative vehicle solution provides an efficient and reliable, incident response solution for St Johns Ambulance, famous in the blue light community.
St Johns Ambulance currently have 2 vehicles, Teapot 1 and Teapot 2 which are incident catering vans and have been used for many years, in addition to an old Command & Control unit. If there is a crisis or a disaster then these vehicles are likely to turn up to serve the community and victims, families and blue light services. Recently, St Johns Ambulance have had a considerable sum donated, which they are truly grateful for. This donation has enabled them to place an initial order for one new catering pod and a Command & Control unit. Here at Omnia, we are in the process of building these catering vans right now, and they should be up and running towards the end of the last quarter of 2020. Teapot 1 and 2 will continue to be used until their brand-new replacements are ready to step in and the old tired vehicles can eventually be retired.
We have worked alongside Alfa Drop Box who have handled the project with St Johns Ambulance and we supply the lightweight sandwich panels & welding technology that make up the walls and roof of the pods. Our Design and Engineering department worked collaboratively with Alfa Drop Box engineers to develop a design & build space bespoke to St John’s requirements. Omnia started by developing a desk top prototype prior to building the initial bodies for Alfa utilising our patented welding system. As part of the Transfer of Technology and Know How Agreements with our clients, we support prototype development as part of our technology hand over procedure.
Claudine Irwin, Alfa Drop Box said “Omnia have been there for Alfa Drop Box through the whole process, helping with the Research & Development side of the projects, making the pods light weight, with a higher payload, making the vehicles more economical and more ecologically friendly. Alfa Drop Box has been established for 4 years and it was around the time of conception that we met Omnia at the Commercial Vehicle Show in 2016. It really was by a chance meeting and our business relationship has gone from strength to strength.
Omnia have been intrinsic and essential in some really important works for us and in the supply and integration of Alfa Drop Box into Virgin Atlantic. Our vehicles were a new and innovative change for their organisations both at Heathrow and Gatwick. Omnia built the 3T boxes which they use for the transportation of tyres and essential Airside GSE. We look forward to working with Omnia on our future projects”
Omnia look forward to supporting you with your prototype development projects as part of our technology hand over procedure.
