Here at Omnia, we would like to update you, our customers and suppliers, on our current position regarding the Covid-19 situation. In this current Global pandemic, and to support the Government in its endeavours to control the Coronavirus, it is more important than ever for us to follow their guidelines.
Our Position
Because of our operations in China we have been working with this situation since January. We’ve been dealing with, overcoming and responding to the situation since before Chinese New Year and as a result we are in a great place. We have lots of stock and more arriving over the next few weeks. We are able to fulfil any customer demand that’s thrown at us and are in a position to fulfil orders.
We are currently working on a very large contract with one of our customers in the supply chain for Ministry of Justice. This is classed as essential work and we are actively ramping up production to meet the demand so that contracts can be fulfilled without delays.
Our Staff
We take the health and wellbeing of our staff very seriously and, as such, the majority of our staff are working from home. This means no change to our customer service operation so, if you need support, our teams are ready to assist you.
Within Omnia manufacturing, all of our staff are here voluntarily and the message that I have given to all our staff is that if you are not able or willing to come in then go home. I have also extended our paid sick pay provision to ensure people feel able to self-isolate without fear of financial penalty. We have just taken on two new members of staff in production who we are delighted to welcome to the team, and both are helping us to fulfil our current orders.
In order to stay safe, Omnia are not accepting any visitors on site. All of our workers work 2 meters away from each other, which is our best practise anyway, and breaks are staggered to maintain social distancing. All office personnel are working from home to limit the number of people we all have to interact with. We are each other’s extended family right now and come into contact with no-one else. We all think of each other as family and the more responsibility we take, the more we look after each other and our families at home. The key is that if our team want to leave and self-isolate, we will close but our staff prefer to come in so that they are able to work.
As a senior manager I have a responsibility and duty of care to my people and I will, of course, respond appropriately to any advice given by the authorities.
Moving Forward
Our colleagues in China are coming out the other side of this. We supported them through their crisis and they are working hard for us. We need to keep manufacturing going and industry in general, if we can keep it going, we should.
